how to - make a bow

Here is a quick " how to," you will need fabric, interfacing (iron on ) pins, scissors and thread.

Cut out two pieces of fabric measuring 20 inches x 3 and half inches or
51 cm  x 9 cm cut the same in the interfacing and iron the interfacing on
to the back or wrong side of the fabric. Fold the fabric in half and measure in
one inch or 2.5 cm on the fold, mark with a pin, cut from the raw edge
at an angle to the point marked with a pin.

Repeat this 3 more times on each end piece.
Your fabric should now look like the picture above,
open the fabric and place right sides together.
Pin the fabric and machine around all the edges
using 1 cm seam allowance of quarter of an inch,
leave a gap to turn the fabric through.

trim the fabric back around the points as shown in the photo,
turn the the bow through and press, hand sew
the gap that you used to turn the fabric through, press.
Fold the finished bow in half and pin approx. 6
inches in from the point or 15 cm, look at the
shape and size of the bow and adjust to suit
your design. Machine down the pined line, press.

Cut a small piece of fabric 1 and half inches wide
and 3 half inches long, fold the raw edges under  so
they are hidden , press and machine
on the edge of the fabric to
make a strip to wrap around the bow,
wrap the strip around the bow, adjust the fabric
to be tighter or looser to suit your design,
hand sew the strip together at the back.
Hand sew the bow onto the bag,
or dress, or belt, or hand bag .....................
