Love Letter Lost

I was lucky enough to get this fantastic
book from a lovely friend for my birthday.
The author Babbette Hines shares her trove
of love letters and vintage photographs
devotedly collected at flea markets and
auctions over the past tens years.
Images of love struck couples laughing, dancing and picnicking richly
illustrate this period, the love letters really show how "courting" and love
has changed over the years. It's a wonderful book transporting one back
to another era.

super busy weekend

My friend's house sit this farm when the owners go on holiday, so we popped
over to say Hello, and the girls had a wonderful time feeding the sheep and cats
checking on the cows and playing with the amazing sheep dog, Domino.

I made this dress for a special day on sunday
I was lucky enough to find the vintage pattern
in Oxfam, but it was for age 6 years I needed
it to fit an 8 year old so I mixed it with this
newer pattern from Burda. The daisy lace and dress
fabric is from Ditto and the trims from Fabric Land.
Sunday was rounded off with a yummy cream tea
at Havanna Spoon in Hove. We feasted on tiny rolls
with smoked salmon and cream cheese, scones
jam and cream and lots of little cakes, cherry cake
carrot cake and cheese cake. Like Havanna in
Brighton, Havanna Spoon has a lovely vintage feel
which makes me think of the 1920s .

in-side-out

Wandering around the Lanes in Brighton, I popped in the In side out cafe for a cuppa, all the mosaics reminded me of Parc Guell, in Barcellona.

happy hens

A very happy but busy day on saturday
11, lovely "hens" celebrated Zoe's July
wedding with a Sew Retro Hen Party, they
made silk knickers or a clutch bag, and nibbled
a vintage champagne cream tea, sandwiches
lemon drizzle cake and freshly baked scone
with cream and jam.,washed down with
sparkling wine and pots of tea, I did not have
time to take any photos except before and
after .

Sunday a quite day, a small trip, to worthing pier to admire the fading beauty
of the 1930's pier, such a shame no cafe, only a small kiosk selling tea/coffee
and a few men fishing, on sunday in JUNE not the sunniest day we have had
recently but sadly the pier was deserted !
