show and tell

Today I finished these cute girly dresses, I am going to be using them
to show beginners what they can make from less than a meter of
fabric, the apple fabric is from ditto fabric's in the lanes Brighton.
The fabric in the second photo I bought on line from beyond fabric it has a
great retro feel.

These trousers for boy and girls take's only 60 cm of fabric, I got this
fabric also from Ditto.  I love the blue fabric with tattoo motifs, I feel
a summer dress coming on!  I made the labels in photo shop they will hang
off the clothes advertising , what you can make, how much fabric you need,
and the other options. When the new classes start I will be serving lots of
homemade cakes, these cup cakes, were made with a basic cup cake recipe
and I made a buttercream topping using 50 grams of butter and 50 grams of
icing sugar, and added 2 dessertspoons of lemon juice, they were very
yummy, perfect with cup of tea in the sun.

a little road trip

Yesterday, saw me heading off to St. Leonard's to pick up
some more vintage fabric from Way Ward Vintage Fabric.
I needed more of the ticking which I am using to make
cushions for the open house festive in Brighton and Hove,
during May. It's a fantastic event, held over the first four
weekends of May, last year record 243 venues in the
Brighton and Hove area opened their doors to exhibit
the work of over 1,300 artists and makers and were
visited by over 230,000 people.
The vintage silver fabric is from a factory in France and
was woven and made into dresses for film stars in the 1930's.
It is very beautiful but quite "itchy" so I am going to use it for
 making vintage style bags.
As I was in the area we popped into the De La Warr Pavilion
 Bexhill.
This is one of my favourite places along  the south coast built in 1935 by
architects Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff, it was the first
public building in the UK to be built in the modernist style.  It was
commissioned by the 9th Earl De La Warr.
We saw the exhibition (free entry ) Moving Portraits
excellent well worth a visit. It was such a gorgeous
day we round it off with a lovely cuppa on the sea front.
However they have a great cafe in the De La Warr
Pavilion and you can sit on the balcony and enjoy the
amazing architecture and sea views.

easypeasy pud

Wanted to share with you the easiest pudding in the world;

You need;

I packet of shortcrust pastry.
I packet of frozen fruits of the forest
small cube of butter
1 heaped desert spoon of brown sugar

Cut the packet of shortcrust pastry in half, and using
a rolling pin, and some flour, roll out the pastry.
I was able to cut out 9 heart shapes from the half packet.

Place in a hot oven (200) and cook until golden approx. 10 to 15 mins.

Put the frozen fruits , the butter and sugar into a small pan and cook over a low
heat until the fruit is defrosted and the butter and sugar has made a lovely
sauce.
Serve ! And enjoy every yummy mouthful.
I read an interesting article in the Waitrose cookery magazine,
available in store for £1.00, about a pop up tea shop at a
rowing club in Mortlake West London, it reminded me
of an exciting blog written by a fashion illustrator,
called seeds and stitches, the blogger discovered, an
amazing secret tea room, situated in a shabby
pub, the bar man lifted up the hinged part of the bar
and she was shown to the tea room. Staff  dressed
in vintage clothes, served her tea !  Just added this
venue, on to my "to do" list.
