Granny Squares

Using this great book "Meet me at Mike's"
I taught myself to crochet, a while back.
I had a fab time making granny squares.
This time I just kept making the granny square
bigger and bigger until, I had a small blanket.
This way I did not have to join the granny squares together to
make my blanket. I found Pip Lincolne's book good, but I
also found these videos on you tube invaluable.

Can't wait to start on something new !

Choccywoccydoodah

Approach with extreme caution, a very
very empty stomach and at least 3
friends to share one portion of cake !
choccywoccydoodah residing in the
lanes, Brighton serves the most
enormous portions of its fabulous
famous cakes.

Yes ! This is one portion.
With a very very full stomach you
can enjoy the larger than life decor.

Chessboard Biscuits

For this weeks bake I tried the Ikea cook book. I had no
idea that Ikea did cookery books until my aunt kindly
gave my daughters this one for Christmas.
The layout of the cookery book is amazing (see above) bold
photos of the ingredients are display in a very visual way.
Some of the dry ingredients are measured in ml - but after a quick
search I found a ml measuring cup in the back of my kitchen unit.
The results were very yummy !

Vintage Mirrors - Bedroom Make Over

At Last ! I have finally hung my vintage mirrors
(except of the cream one below with flowers
that was from Next) as part of the bedroom make over.
The first mirror was a fiver from a great little shop in Gardner Street
Brighton's North Laines, the oval mirror £3 from Emmaus ,
and the final one with the grape design ? a whooping 35.00
from a shop in Lewis, and it's my least
favourite, but I am super keen to get the bedroom
sorted, and I have been searching for
the mirrors for a longish time.
Bird and owl hooks from Plumo around £3 in the sale
I wish I had bought a few more.

Butterick B5474 Vintage style apron

I have used this pattern (Butterick B5474) time and time again.
It makes a great present to give or keep ! It's so versatile as you can
see I have made a few alterations to the pattern.

I altered the pocket, and made it a bit simpler as the print is very busy.
Added a little ribbon on the top of the pocket to match the bias binding.
Christy made this one, (at a Sew Retro Class) using a flower print for the pocket.
Olivia made the pinny (at a Sew Retro sewing class)
using contrast prints.
I had been feeling very snow bound so now the big thaw is happening, I  nipped into Emmaus and found this 70"s ? vintage pattern, Butterick again.

Animal Hats - Vanessa Mooncie

I ordered this wonderful book from  Amazon
by Vanessa Mooncie.
Can't wait to get started on the fox hat for my
eldest daughter and my youngest daughter has
chosen the mouse hat. I love the chicken hat !
Shame I did not get the book sooner, these hats
would be perfect for the present weather conditions,
the house is covered in a thick layer of snow !
Keep warm and have a good friday.
