Birthday treat _ Modern Vintage Style

I was lucky enough to receive a amazon gift voucher for my birthday
last month, I picked this book Modern Vintage Style by Emily
Chalmers, of Caravan fame, Emily has an amazing shop in Shoreditch
London.  The book Modern Vintage Style, is jam packed with
 wonderful vintage ideas.
I love this "patchwork wall" paper and can't wait to re-create something
inspired by this idea. I had a quick look on line and found this web site
Vintage Wall Paper on Line, they have some amazing "packs" which
should be perfect. Now I just need to get going !

Just in time .......

Visiting this inspiring exhibition featuring the work of

Robin and Lucienne Day: Design and the Modern Interior

had been on my "to do" list for ages, so on the last day
of the exhibition at Pallent House I finally got to see it
WOW, it was amazing........ I  just love the textiles

and furniture from that period, I had to restrain myself from ripping them off the
walls and popping the fabric into my bag. A few of the fabric's have been re printed

digitally,  (with the help of textile students from Glasgow Uni )
selling in the Art gallery shop for £75.00 per meter.... not cheap

this one is possibly my favourite....................

Love Letter Lost

I was lucky enough to get this fantastic
book from a lovely friend for my birthday.
The author Babbette Hines shares her trove
of love letters and vintage photographs
devotedly collected at flea markets and
auctions over the past tens years.
Images of love struck couples laughing, dancing and picnicking richly
illustrate this period, the love letters really show how "courting" and love
has changed over the years. It's a wonderful book transporting one back
to another era.

super busy weekend

My friend's house sit this farm when the owners go on holiday, so we popped
over to say Hello, and the girls had a wonderful time feeding the sheep and cats
checking on the cows and playing with the amazing sheep dog, Domino.

I made this dress for a special day on sunday
I was lucky enough to find the vintage pattern
in Oxfam, but it was for age 6 years I needed
it to fit an 8 year old so I mixed it with this
newer pattern from Burda. The daisy lace and dress
fabric is from Ditto and the trims from Fabric Land.
Sunday was rounded off with a yummy cream tea
at Havanna Spoon in Hove. We feasted on tiny rolls
with smoked salmon and cream cheese, scones
jam and cream and lots of little cakes, cherry cake
carrot cake and cheese cake. Like Havanna in
Brighton, Havanna Spoon has a lovely vintage feel
which makes me think of the 1920s .
