last minute baking idea's for Mother's Day

This is one of the easiest dessert ever ! adapted from Lorraine Pascale's
Baking made Easy,
You need one chocolate swiss roll and a tub of chocolate ice cream.
line a glass bowl with the swiss roll ,(one large swiss roll is plenty)
filling in the gaps with swiss roll, sprinkle a little
liqueur of your choice or apple juice, over the swiss roll
(I forgot) fill the remaining space with chocolate ice cream,
Lorraine suggests Green and Black but I used Sainsbury's ,
freeze overnight, and when you want to serve
turn the bowl over and it slips out easily .
Sorry no picture but I made Lorraine Pascal's apricot flapjacks,
 (recipe on her website)
Very easy and def the best I have made.
The photos don't look great but the Carrot Cake cupcakes from the Primrose Bakery
were easy to make and very yummy. The strawberry topped cupcakes were a
simple basic recipe, and iced with 150 grms of butter and 300 gmrs of icing sugar
and the zest of one orange, mixed together and topped with a strawberry.
Have a great Mother's Day.

keeping warm

Just when I thought spring was on its way, fooled by
the daffodils out in force, we have a COLD spell.
 Cold spells = comfort food
this is my tried a tested scone recipe

250grms self raising flour
half a teaspoon baking powder
50grms butter
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1 egg and enough milk to make it up to 150ml

Rub the butter into the flour and baking powder,
I use a cheese grater and grate the butter
straight from the fridge, then mix it with the
flour, its so quick, add the sugar and milk/egg.
mix together and turn out onto a floured
surface. Cut to any size you want, and
bake in a hot oven 220c for 10mins.
Enjoy.
Have a great weekend.

amazing FREE fabric

Just wanted to share my newish discovery with you, for "free Fabric".
You need :
2 x Large sheets of baking or parchment paper
big pile of plastic carrier bags
a iron

On the first sheet of baking paper cut out and layer your
plastic bags, the shop logo's can be used to create your
own message, you will need at about 3/4 layers.
Place the second  sheet of baking paper over the
plastic bags. Using a very hot iron, iron all over
your baking paper. Remove the iron and leave the
paper to cool (do not remove it) as it cools it
start to crackle and lift and you are left with the
"fabric". I made a few wallets (sorry no photos)
its very easy to sew on the sewing machine.
Libby made this sign for her bed room door.
I also thought the fabric would make great
garden bunting, free and water proof !

Enjoyed the sea views over a great cuppa on Saturday.
